Chinese cuisine is one of the world's most famous cuisines with a history of thousands of years and with distinctive regional differences. The cuisine of Guanxi Province is simple but extremely tasty using the broad diversity of food that is produced in this fertile area.

Yangshuo Cooking School offers you the opportunity to learn how to cook real Village food with our skilled and friendly teachers who love to impart the stories and secrets of Chinese cuisine in a friendly fun atmosphere.

We emphasise a teaching style based on actually doing rather than watching.

We will take you shopping in the local markets to learn about the ingredients that we use in our dishes. After cooking the dishes we eat the meals together and informally explore Chinese culture,folk-lore and customs.

 

Each class is 4 hours including the market tour

 

 

Our courses include:

  • small classes
  • transport to and from our original Chinese farmhouse just outside Yangshuo or to our beautiful River School including hotel pick up and drop off. Transport is only included from Yangshuo.
  • visit to local markets
  • fluent English-speaking local teachers
  • five carefully selected dishes per day
  • recipes of the dishes cooked to allow you to "wow" your friends
  • individual wok and bench
  • learn by doing
  • authentic meal cooked by you and your friends

Course 1

Monday Wednesday Friday Sunday

This course includes a tour of the local produce markets and five delicious dishes:

  • beer fish (famous local dish)
  • chicken with cashew nuts
  • steamed stuffed vegetables
  • eggplant with soy and oyster sauce
  • green vegetables with garlic.


March to November, pickup from your hotel:

  • morning class - 9:30am
  • afternoon class - 3:30pm

December to February , pickup from your hotel:

  • one class only from 10:30am

 

Course 2

Tuesday Thursday Saturday

This course includes a tour of the local produce markets and five delicious dishes:

  • egg wrapped dumplings
  • steamed chicken with mushroom
  • duck with pickled ginger and chillies (on two or three day course) or eggplant
  • stir fried pork with vegetables and oyster sauce
  • green vegetables with garlic.

March to November, pickup from your hotel:

  • morning class - 9:30am
  • afternoon class - 3:30pm

December to February , pickup from your hotel:

  • one class only from 10:30am
